Digital Products

IT Governance supplies a growing range of digital books, documents and other online services to its customers.

eBooks

We supply a range of books in eBook formats as well as in soft cover or hard cover. All ITGP eBooks are delivered immediately from our own eBook server. A growing number of our partner's books are also available from our server. Some of our publishers have still to integrate with our server and others of our publishers have chosen different formats for their eBooks - in both of these cases we have to arrange for download instructions to be sent manually by email, and the eBook user instructions may vary.

What is an eBook?

An eBook (sometimes called a ‘digital book’) is a digital edition of a book that is designed to be read on your computer, or an eBook reader. An eBook is not the same thing as a downloadable PDF. Most core OGC and VHP titles are now also available as eBooks from this site.

What are the advantages of eBooks?

You can download eBooks and read them immediately. There is no waiting for shipment. eBooks also offer the convenience of size and portability - you can store your own personal library of eBooks on your computer or hand held device.

What software do I need to read IT Governance eBooks?

When you purchase an eBook from IT Governance Ltd, in order to read it you need to install Adobe Digital Editions
(You may need administrative permissions to do this – if so, please contact your system administrator directly).

This is because all IT Governance eBooks are in Adobe e-reader format (PDF), secured with Adobe Digital Rights Management (DRM). Core OGC and VHP titles are also all now mostly available in Adobe e-reader format from this site, although the links have to be manually delivered.

This format and protection are supported across a wide range of eReaders. For more detail please see the Adobe Digital Editions website.

How do I purchase and download eBooks (using Adobe Digital Editions)?

You purchase an eBook in exactly the same way as a hard copy book. Once you have made the purchase, you will receive a download link:

  1. At the bottom of the purchase confirmation page
  2. In your eBook conformation email
  3. In your bookshelf: go to My account > My Order
  4. Before you click on this link, you need to download Adobe Digital Editions (You may need administrative permissions to do this – if so, please contact your system administrator directly)
  5. Click on the link.
  6. A file download box will appear, giving you the option to Open or Save the download.
  7. Select  ‘Open’ if you want Adobe Digital Editions to download the eBook and add it to your library immediately.
  8. Select 'Save' if you want to do this later.

How do I obtain a download link for previously purchased eBooks?

For eBooks purchased from IT Governance Ltd you can sign into your account and view all purchased eBooks in your order history. Just go: go to My account > My Order.

How do I transfer eBooks from Adobe Digital Editions to hand held eBook readers?

  1. Open Adobe Digital Editions.
  2. Plug your eReader into your computer with a  USB cable. The eReader icon will appear in the left hand panel of Adobe Digital Editions.
  3. Go to the ‘Library’ view in Adobe Digital Editions.
  4. Copy the eBook(s) to your eReader by dragging and dropping them from the 'Library view' onto the Reader icon in the left hand panel.
  5. If the eBook is large a progress bar may appear as the eBook is copied.
  6. Exit Adobe Digital Editions.
  7. Once Adobe Digital Editions is closed, disconnect the USB cable from your eReader.
  8. Your eBook is now loaded to your eReader and can be read.

Online Access to Official ITIL Material from OGC

Online subscriptions

Subscriptions for OGC products are annual, and are designed for individual identified users. You can purchase an annual licence online for one or more users, whose access to the OGC material will be controlled by user name and password.

Multi-user access

The core ITIL publications from the OGC are also available for multi-user online access and users are enabled to access the central OGC website for central access to the Complete ITIL Publication Suite. The online subscription replace the old ITIL CD-Roms and provides better viewing and access to the material and is, in most aspects, a preferable electronic medium for the ITIL material.

Access is managed centrally and any number of users can be provided with access details; once the purchased number of access licences is simultaneously active on the OGC site, further access will be prevented until one user logs out, thereby allowing another to log on. As a general guide, one concurrent user licence will support 10 core users of the material or 15 whose use is less frequent or spread geographically or temporally.

Multi-user access can be set up for any number of users, with access controlled through IP authentication, which enables all those users behind a specified IP address (or addresses) such as a firewall, to access the material.
